In 1994 and 1995 ES, in cooperation with Yukon Fisheries conducted a winter netting program at the Narrows of Long Lake (as shown on the image to the right). We were conducting a winter census of stocked rainbow trout to ascertain their growth rates and to determine if they were spawning in the lake.
The ES class set a net under the ice on a morning and pulled the net the next day. They identified all fish, weighed and measured length of the fish and opened the fish to determine if they had eggs or milt. |
