Experiential Science studies in marine environments have included population studies of plankton within the liminotic zone. The plankton drags were conducted over a 10 meter length at a depth of one meter. Samples were taken in open straights and in more protected sites. Classes were assisted in identifying different plankton. They were then able to make some inferences between the two environments. We have been conducting many of these studies in conjunction with the Cowitichin Bay Marine Ecology Station.
Between 1997 and 2003 Bill Austin with the Cowitichin Bay Marine Ecology Station. assisted ES clqsses in conducting the comparative plankton sampling. |
